Featured Resort Review: Marriott’s Ko’Olina Beach Club
Hawaii, located more than 2,000 miles from any major land mass is a tropical paradise and some of the most remote islands on earth. Hawaii is an extremely popular travel destination and what better place is there to spend your time there than Marriott’s Ko’Olina Beach Club.
Whether you like to spend your vacations hanging out at the resort enjoying the pools and other amenities or you like to get out and explore, there is no better home base than Marriott’s Ko’Olina Beach Club. Located outside the hustle and bustle of Honolulu and Waikiki, this resort is the perfect location for your next Hawaiian vacation.
This article provides detailed information to help you plan your stay at Marriott’s Ko’Olina Beach Club!

One of Marriott Vacation Club’s most popular resorts. It features three pools, beautiful lagoon, and world famous sunsets. This resort has all that you need to unwind and enjoy your day relaxing pool side, wading in warm Hawaiian waters or heading out to see the many sights and attractions around Oahu.
Visitors flying in to Hawaii to stay at Marriott’s Ko’Olina Beach Club will likely arrive at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, better known as Honolulu International Airport (HNL). The drive from the airport to the resort is about 25-30 minutes but can vary widely based on traffic. Serviced by the all major airlines, you’re sure to find a flight from your favorite airport. Given the remote location of Hawaii, flights can be long. Especially when flying from the US East Coast. The major US rental car companies have rental car desks at the airport.
Do You Need a Rental Car?
While a car might not be necessary, if you plan to explore the island of Oahu, you will likely want to rent a vehicle. You can also skip a rental vehicle for your entire stay and instead just rent a vehicle for a day or two as needed. You also have the option to book excursions that will pick you up at the resort. If this is your first visit to Oahu, you certainly want to get out and explore and there is no better and more convenient way to do that than renting your own vehicle. Given the distance, time and traffic, expect a taxi from the airport to the resort to cost $75 or more from the airport to Ko’Olina.
I would hope everyone already knows, but being a US State, Hawaii uses the US Dollar as its primary currency. That said, timeshare stays in Hawaii come with a surprising, but not so fun, add-on, a nightly Timeshare Occupancy Tax (TSO). Timeshare Occupancy Tax in Hawaii is based on the maintenance fees and size of the timeshare unit you are staying in. Since the tax is based on the annual maintenance fee paid by the owner, they go up slightly every year. Below is a table showing the fees as of March 2025 for Marriott’s Ko’Olina Beach Club.
The “Lock-Off” indicates the studio or guest room side of a two or three bedroom unit. “Master” indicates the one bedroom or two bedroom side of the two or three bedroom lock off villa. The amounts for a studio and one bedroom are a split of the amounts below.
| Room Type | Tax Rate |
|---|---|
| 2 Bedroom (Villa) | $31.68 |
| 3 Bedroom (Villa) | $34.85 |
| 2 Bedroom (Lock-Off ) | $10.56 |
| 3 Bedroom (Lock-Off ) | $10.56 |
| 2 Bedroom (Master) | $21.12 |
| 3 Bedroom (Master) | $24.29 |
Located south of the Tropic of Cancer, Hawaii is officially located in the tropics. This brings consistent temperatures year round. With Marriott’s Ko’Olina Beach Club being located on the western or leeward side of the Island of Oahu, this also means rainfall is less common than on the eastern or windward side of the island. Expect lots of sunny days during your visit to the resort.

Marriott’s Ko’Olina Beach Club consists of two-bedroom and three-bedroom villas. Many of the villas lock off. This means the two-bedroom villas can be reserved as two smaller units; a one-bedroom and a studio unit. Three-bedroom villas can be locked off and reserved as a two-bedroom and a studio unit.
