Views & Building Preference

When making a reservation or renting a stay at Marriott’s Ocean Pointe, you will reserve a specific view type. For those that might exchange in to the resort through Interval International, you are most likely to get the view type of the unit that was deposited into Interval International by the owner.

There are primary two view types at Ocean Pointe; oceanfront and ocean side. This section will explain the different views and how the size of the unit might impact your unit placement. Your main decision on what view to book may also play a big part in what building or section of the resort your assigned villa will be in. Let’s talk about Kingfish and the rest of the resort.

What is Kingfish and Why Is It Controversial?

Kingfish was the fifth and last building that Marriott built at Ocean Pointe. It is separated from the other four buildings and rest of the resort by a private condominium complex. There were many rumors about Marriott attempting to acquire the land where the condo complex sits, but that never happened. Thus Kingfish is separated from the remainder of the resort. Some people like this as Kingfish can provide a quieter more relaxed stay at Marriott’s Ocean Points.

Other people hate Kingfish because it is separate from the rest of the resort and requires the quests to drive or take a short walk along the sidewalk or beach to participate in activities that happen at the main resort complex. Kingfish has a love/hate relationship for frequent guests.

Sailfish, Dolphin, Cobia and Pompano are the first four buildings that were constructed and make up the main resort complex.

Ships passing by the inlet – 1 Bedroom Ocean Front in the Kingfish building

Oceanfront Villas

These units directly face the Atlantic Ocean in Sailfish, Dolphin, Cobia and Pompano. They also face toward the ocean and inlet in the Kingfish building. This means that some of the oceanfront units in Kingfish don’t directly face the ocean. However, they do have fantastic views out toward the ocean but directly front the inlet. Many people like the inlet views as they like ship spotting. Watching ships and boats sail in and out of Palm Beach Inset

If you’ve reserved a two bedroom, one bedroom or studio oceanfront unit, there is about a 50% chance you could be placed in the Kingfish building as 40 of the 69 two-bedroom oceanfront units are in Kingfish.

When it comes to three-bedroom units, there are a total of 33 units and only five are in Kingfish with the seven units being in each of Sailfish, Dolphin, Cobia and Pompano. All three-bedroom units at Marriott’s Ocean Pointe are considered oceanfront.

Oceanside Villas

If you’ve reserved a two-bedroom oceanside villa, only 20 of the 240 two-bedroom oceanside villas are in Kingfish. Securing an oceanside view will give you a high probablyilty of being placed into Sailfish, Dolphin, Cobia and Pompano in the main section of the resort.

There is no best or worst section of Marriott’s Ocean Pointe. Most villas provide fantastic views. Keep in mind however, lower floors may have their views blocked or partially blocked by a palm tree. Generally, everything on the fourth floor or above will have great views. The ground floor is a parking lot with floor one starting on the second level.

Beach Chairs

There’s nothing like spending the day hanging out on the beach. Depending on your preference and budget, you have several options for beach chairs and umbrellas at the beach. Many people opt to purchase beach chairs and an umbrella at Costco or perhaps even at the nearby Breeza beach shop located in Ocean Walk Mall. These can often be passed off to another guest if you aren’t able to take them home with you. Many people find this to be a more budget friendly option than renting chairs and an umbrella on the beach. Especially if you plan to spend every day on the beach.

If you would rather rent beach chairs and umbrellas during your stay, visit them at Oceanside Beach Service. You can rent for individual days or save by renting for multiple days or even for your entire stay.
